The Camden Clean Air Initiative has a vision of converting its 1965 Routemaster Bus to electric.
Camden Clean Air owns a beautiful 1965 Routemaster bus that we aim to convert to electric to use as a billboard for clean air, showcasing the importance of air quality to the people of Camden. Examples of different uses of the bus include educational workshops, festivals, fundraisers, mobile libraries, mobile farmers markets, or means of transportation for school and community groups. The bus can also be used for the promotion of local businesses and organisations whose work and values align with ours.
This project will showcase an iconic feature of London history within the new-era of advanced technology and sustainability. The juxtaposition of old and new will perfectly align with Camden’s identity. As well as this, it will be the first of its kind, setting Camden apart from the rest of London, highlighting it as a hub for technological and environmental advancement.
Progress
We have spoken with an engineering company capable of doing the conversion and have established a conversion process and generated a quote. We are now turning to businesses to sponsor the conversion of the bus. Likewise, we are looking for companies capable of converting the bus to showcase their capabilities. Companies involved would feature on the side of the bus and be able to use it for their own events.
How to get involved
If you are a company that would like to learn more about getting involved either through funding the conversion or carrying out the conversion itself, then please get in touch and we can provide you with more information.
