Why do you support The Camden Clean Air Initiative?
Air pollution has been identified as a huge problem across the borough, but the problem is not limited to the outdoor environment. People spend 90% of their time indoors, where air quality is 2 to 5 times worse than outdoors. That’s where we come in, with a portable, safe and affordable solution for indoor use. Clean indoor air is not just about protecting health but reducing absenteeism and increasing work productivity and cognitive functions, adding value to any organisation. Air purification in lieu of mechanical or natural ventilation can also save energy on heating, helping to meet the government’s net-zero goal.
What are your plans for being involved?
We have lots of ideas to educate and increase awareness of the indoor air problem. We also want to encourage immediate action, so we’re offering a financial incentive of 15% discount to organisations within the borough. For schools, we’ll do a 2 for 1 offer, providing two units for the price of one. Finally, we’ll also commit to a charitable giving scheme whereby any business purchasing 3 or more of our air purification units can nominate a school or charity of their choice, to which we will donate an extra unit.
What do you love most about Camden?
The diversity, in every sense of the word. Camden embodies a rich mix of cultures, communities, landmarks, green spaces, and businesses and is characterised by creativity and innovation. Unfortunately, as a place to live, learn and work, that is all undermined by dirty air. We want to love the environment there too!
